HMC is growing our team and we are on the hunt for a few new team members.  We are considering junior, mid and senior level PR professionals!  If you are amazing at what you do, we want to talk!

As a two-time winner of the PRINZ PR Agency of the Year, we want proven performers to join our small team.  If you like variety, you'll love working with us.  A role with HMC requires you to juggle a multitude of PR and marketing communications projects - both strategy and execution.  You'll get to stretch all your 'PR muscles,' while working with a team of contractors to help you along the way.

What can you expect?

At HMC, we pride ourselves in our ability to foster long-term and meaningful relationships with our many clients. You’ll deal predominantly with corporate and mid-level SMEs in Waikato and throughout New Zealand. Most of our work is B2B and many of our clients have been with us for more than five years.

Whether you're a junior or a senior, you will get the chance to develop and implement communications strategy for a range of clients. You’ll also pitch in to help your fellow team members when they need extra hands on deck.

Our team members need to be good ‘all-rounders’ who can help clients in the areas of digital PR, internal communications, issues management, media relations and general corporate communication.  

If you are just starting out in your career - don't worry!  We'll mentor and support you while you contribute with the 'doing.'

All our team members need to have a natural flair for communication and relationship management. Plus, you'll need to be a strategic thinker and quick on your feet. 

For our mid and senior level team members, you need to have led successful PR projects from beginning to end and have good media relationships.

These are fun, yet fast-paced roles that require self-starters who love autonomy yet know when to lean on team members’ expertise and ask for help.

The team members we are looking for should:

  • Have at least 4+ years’ experience in a communications/PR role (not marketing)
  • Write captivating and eye-catching stories for use in various forms (media releases, social media, blogs, direct communications)
  • Have a good understanding of how to use social media channels, although there is no expectation to know the intricacies of digital marketing
  • Have solid media liaison experience (especially junior and senior level applicants)
  • Understand issues in the context of reputation management
  • Have a high degree of attention to detail, makes few mistakes and learns quickly from them
  • Understand what it takes to develop a communications strategy
  • Be deadline focused
  • APR is a huge bonus!
  • NZ rural industry experience preferred, but not necessary

HMC offers competitive remuneration and salary will be commensurate with experience.

HMC works with clients in vaccination-mandated industries such as education and health, so candidates will need to be able to prove they meet these clients' Covid-19 vaccination policies as part of the job application process.
